“The Role of Military Production in Supporting the Egyptian Economy“
Canada Egypt Business Council (CEBC) and Egyptian Business Council for International Cooperation (ECIC) had the pleasure to host an event on Monday, September 10th, 2018 attended by distinguished guests whom were highly interested to hear and follow up the role of the military production in supporting the local economy.
Eng. Motaz Raslan, Chairman of CEBC & ECIC has welcomed the honorary guests and the respected speaker; H.E. General Dr. Mohamed El Assar, Minister of State for Military Production.
Eng. Motaz Raslan started the session by highlighting the major role of the military production since it was a dream back in 1952, since then the military production were incredibly supporting the military needs with the best and latest technologies. Currently we are very proud of its role and capacity of owning and managing enterprises and factories in different sectors within the ministry’s vision to employ the exploitation of surplus capacity in the domestic projects and development and bring added value to the Egyptian economy. In Addition to the main noble role which is supplying the military forces. Egypt faced several crises in the last 7 years. We have noticed that in the energy, electricity, lack of infant’s milk, lack of basic commodity products and other challenges that were about to highly impact the local economy and threatened the social stability. From there the ministry of military production has used its resources and experiences to find radical solutions to many problems that impact the society in different segments. The military production found solutions in solving the equation between the supply and demand in various aspects, established the biggest factory for solar panels in the world to resolve one of Egypt’s main issue in the past years which is the power supply. Nevertheless military production adopted the project of ministry of supply by implementing the Smart Supply Cards System, not to forget other sectors like Agriculture, Transportation, Railways as well as sports. The ministry of military production continues its support by exchange of experiences with other countries and offers the surplus good to export which will provide the local economy with foreign currency and increase of export. H.E. General Dr. Mohamed El Assar, Minister of State for Military Production commenced his speech by giving hints about the history of the military production and the role as a military arm to fulfill the military needs from the equipment for armature. He underlined the region’s instability and the threats that affect the entire region’s economies and since Egypt is the biggest among the neighborhood countries therefore there was a need to build powerful military product facilities that supply the army with its needs.
The Military Production is based on 5 crucial main themes;
- The manufacturing
- The research and development
- Information Technology
- Technical training and exercises
- Construction
The Military Production manufacturing military requirements first like Military Tanks, Rocket Launchers, Weapons and Ammunition and Radars, Bridges and Crackers of all kinds. In addition to the surplus goods that goes to manufacturing the consumer goods like Fridges, Stoves, Water meters and Electricity and the like. H.E. General Dr. Mohamed El Assar elaborated about the military production vision is contributing to the country’s big vision by being the main provider to our military with the best products that added value to the Egyptian economy.
We then reached the closure of the session; Eng. Motaz Raslan thanked the respected speaker and the distinguished guests for participating, then opened the floor for the Q & A discussion.
