Description
The Egyptian government has succeeded to a great extent in reducing the risks of the outbreak of the new Coronavirus, through many measures and programs to protect citizens on one hand, & support the economy on the other hand and today we are racing against time to provide the ‘Corona’ vaccine to protect citizens from this pandemic. But, despite these efforts, there are some challenges facing the government in dealing with this pandemic.
In this context CEBC & ECIC had the honor to host Dr. Hany Neamatalla; Senator in the Senat House Professor of Cardiology – Georges Pompidou Paris France & Dr. Ahmed Barrada; Professor of Ophthalmolgy – Azhar University. To discuss the topic “The Challenges of Providing Corona Vaccine and Epidemic-Besieging Plans”
In the opening remarks Eng. Motaz Raslan; Chairman of CEBC & ECIC; He welcomed our dear distinguished members, guests and thanked the reputable speakers for accepting our invitation.
He began the speech saying that most countries of the world have entered a race against time to provide the new corona vaccine to their citizens, where many countries have come a long way in vaccination campaigns, and in contrast there are many countries that have not yet begun because there are many challenges that hinder the acceleration or even access to the vaccine, mainly the lack of doses and difficulties of storage, and the lack of confidence of some citizens. In the midst of this acceleration, another challenge away from the availability of the vaccine is the rapid transformation of the virus, the effectiveness of the current vaccine, the race between the producing companies, and the volume of production is sufficient to protect the world from this pandemic!
He added; Egypt has entered this race, and is making great efforts to provide the vaccine to the citizens, where Egypt was the first country in Africa to receive the vaccine and start the vaccination campaign, and cooperates with many major companies to get vaccines, as it is working to start the manufacture of vaccine in Egypt in the coming period, with the strong support and guidance of the political leadership to be a center for the manufacture of vaccines in Africa and the Middle East.
At the end he said that There is no doubt that the efforts and initiatives of the Egyptian government dealt with the Corona crisis with great professionalism, and took a package of proactive measures to reduce its risks, and succeeded during the first and second waves in curbing the spread of this epidemic, and reduced its repercussions both on the citizens and on the economy.
Dr. Hany Neamatalla; Senator in the Senat House Professor of Cardiology – Georges Pompidou Paris France; After thanking CEBC & ECIC and all distinguished attendees; he started asking why the number of casualties in France is high even though the country is closed and the number of casualties in Egypt is low even though the country is open?
Then he answered his question saying “The reason is that Egypt uses home treatment for corona does not exist in any country in the world, and this is not an exaggeration, I was in France only treated with panadol, but in Egypt a complete treatment bag is spent from the first day for the patient.”
He emphasized that home treatment protocol helped reduce injuries in Egypt and the lack of hospital overcrowding of patients, in anyone who has cough or hyperthermia is dispensed with, but in France or America the patient is booked after the seventh day of treatment.
He then explained two ways to treat the virus:
First, we rely on the collective immune system, which is means that from 50 to 70% of the people should get the virus in order to have antibodies later on, and in return, there will be a large number of deaths, which is why we have refused to rely on collective immune system in the whole world.
Secondly, “The Vaccine” the vaccine depends on sending indications to the body to secrete proteins leading to the formation of antibodies. And those who think that the vaccine will change human nature and interfere with the genes, this is completely wrong, the function of the vaccine ends when it comes to a protein similar to the virus and produces on the basis of antibodies.
Then he gave the floor to Dr. Ahmed Barrada; Professor of Ophthalmolgy – Azhar University who Stressed the importance of wearing masks and not shaking hands and maintaining commitment to social distances even if vaccinated with the vaccine , because it is possible to be still carrying the virus and transmit it to those around you without you even having any symptoms as might be only a carrier as it depends on individual body response due to immunity system differs from one person to another & off-course age differences.
Then the floor was then opened for questions and answers session, where several questions were asked about corona virus and the vaccine and what to expect in the coming period.
