Description

Due to the success achieved by the Egyptian Council for Sustainable Development’s four consecutive missions that took place to Georgia, Armenia, Belarus and Lithuania, Finland and Estonia and finally to Croatia and Slovenia in contributing towards enhancing the business and trade relations between Egypt and those important countries, CEBC members had the desire to participate and get the wheel of production turning and tap new channels and bring new countries in the spotlight where a lot of opportunities could be achieved.

Accordingly the Egyptian Council for Sustainable Development arranged a Roundtable Discussion featuring Ambassador Tanja Miskova, Ambassador of Slovenia to Egypt and Ambassador Armen Melkonian, Ambassador of Armenia to Egypt to highlight Slovenia’s and Armenia’s charms and attractions as lands of opportunities.

The meeting comes as a follow up meeting after the Council’s arranged missions to those two important countries, it also comes in the pursuit of setting off the memorandums of understanding signed between the Egyptian Council for Sustainable Development (ECSD) and the Embassies of Armenia and Slovenia in Egypt and in light of the mutual efforts exerted to strengthen relations and develop reciprocal cooperation.

The Ambassadors gave presentations about Slovenia and Armenia in general in terms of geography and the strategic added values; about their economies and the improvement on competitiveness these countries achieved and labor force as well as the infrastructures.

Some members of the Council who were delegates of missions arranged to the two countries have shared their experience, the success stories and the challenges they may have faced.

During the question and answer session that followed the presentation, issues were raised covering the general business climate and the potential investment opportunities in addition to the tax incentives.

Ms. Loula Zaklama, who moderated the meeting and the panel highlighted the importance of organizing this kind of business missions that the Council organize especially the focus on opening doors to those nontraditional markets before the Egyptian products. Also meeting with the Egyptian members’ counterparts and potential clients as well as political figures and decision makers in those two vibrant countries is of great value especially in portraying the business climate in Egypt to the European side and encouraging them to visit Egypt and maintain the business relations to push the wheel of bilateral cooperation ahead.

Copies of both presentations with important economic figures are available at ECSD.
