Description
To discuss business opportunities between Egypt and Slovakia, the Canada Egypt Business Council (CEBC) and the Egyptian Business Council for International Cooperation (ECIC), has had the honor of hosting Mr. Lukas Parizek the (Minister of State for Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic) and eight Slovakian companies to a seminar which was later followed by bilateral meetings between Slovak businessmen and Egyptian companies wishing to meet with them.
Esteemed guests and officials were also involved and the discussion began by Eng. Motaz Raslan, Chairman of the CEBC & ECIC, introducing Mr. Lukas Parizek, welcoming foreign guests & welcoming everyone by sharing his excitement about this seminar.
Mr. Lucas Parizek gave a small word talking about the business opportunities which could be available between Egypt and Slovakia, followed by Ambassador Valer Franko stating that he has been here since 2016 and how Egypt and Slovakia have had a lot of common economic issues which Slovakia has surpassed, but he has seen a lot of positive changes regarding the economic issues in Egypt and is looking forward to see what’s next in store for Egypt.
The deputy director of the Slovakian Investment Authority started a presentation by stating that Slovakia is located in the heart of Europe which is a very strategic location. Also, that Slovakia is a member of many international organizations such as the European Union, the United Nations, the World Bank, the World Trade Organization, and many more.
The key sectors of the Slovakian economy are their Industrial, Services, and their Agricultural Sectors. They are very big in automotive, electronics, and ICT. During the presentation it was stated that “great ideas from Slovakia went global in IT, automotive, and machinery sectors thanks to unique innovation potential.”
Slovakia depends a lot on importing and exporting. Their top exported commodities are vehicles, electronic equipment, and machines. Slovakia exports to countries such as Germany, Poland, Russia, Austria, Italy, and many more.
Slovakia exports to Egypt commodities such as cars, machinery, Insulated wire, and broadcasting accessories. Egypt imports to Slovakia insulated wire, knit t-shirts, rubber tires etc. There are about 140 companies which are exporting from Slovakia to Egypt.
Another presentation was held by Mr. Amr NourEldin, Deputy Chairman of the Egyptian Investment Authority, which thoroughly highlighted the opportunities available in the Egyptian climate.
