The Egyptian Business Council for International Cooperation (ECIC), chaired by Eng. Moataz Raslan, concluded a successful business mission to the Republic of Tunisia, leading a high-level delegation of distinguished Egyptian parliamentarians and business leaders, including:

* Dr. Sherif El-Gabaly, ECIC Board Member, Member of the Egyptian House of Representatives and the Pan-African Parliament, Chairman of the Egyptian-Tunisian Business Council, and Chairman of Polyserve Group.
* Dr. Effat El-Sadat, ECIC Board Member, Member of the Egyptian Senate, and Chairman of El-Sadat Group.
* Eng. Mahmoud Serag, ECIC Member, Chairman of Serag Tannery Company, and Chairman of the Egyptian Leather and Tanning Export Council.
* Eng. Ahmed Gaber Mohamed, ECIC Member, Chairman of UmiPack, Board Member of the Giza Chamber of Commerce, Member of the Printing and Packaging Export Council, and Member of the Egyptian-Tunisian Business Council.
* Eng. Mohannad El-Seddik, ECIC Sponsor, Chairman and CEO of Zawada and Castries.

The mission included a series of strategic meetings with the African Inclusive Markets Excellence Center (AIMEC), led by H.E. Ambassador Dr. Youssef Kordofani, and attended by representatives of leading African and international economic institutions and private-sector organizations.

The Egyptian delegation commenced its program with a meeting with H.E. Mr. Samir Abid, Minister of Trade of Tunisia ,during which key trade and investment challenges were discussed and areas for cooperation were identified to facilitate stronger bilateral economic relations.

The meetings brought together Ambassador of Egypt to Tunis representatives from AIMEC, the Tunisian Confederation of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts (UTICA), the Tunisian African Business Council (TABC), the Export Promotion Centre of Tunisia (CEPEX), CONNECT International, African business networks, chambers of commerce, economic development institutions, and private-sector leaders from Egypt and across Africa.

Discussions focused on strengthening economic, trade, and investment cooperation among African countries, enhancing private-sector partnerships, facilitating market access across the continent, and supporting sustainable development and African economic integration.

At the conclusion of the meetings, ECIC and AIMEC signed a Minutes of Meeting outlining areas of mutual interest and frameworks for future cooperation. The agreement establishes a foundation for continued dialogue, coordination, and joint initiatives aimed at creating tangible economic impact and expanding opportunities for collaboration.

Participants also explored cooperation opportunities across several priority sectors, including:

* Agriculture and agribusiness
* Manufacturing and engineering industries
* Renewable energy
* Healthcare
* Transport and logistics
* Digital transformation
* Artificial intelligence
* Water and environmental solutions

Both parties emphasized the importance of women’s economic empowerment, youth entrepreneurship, the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and the integration of productive enterprises into African value chains.

The discussions also addressed the development of the African Market Entry Platform, an initiative designed to facilitate business matchmaking, provide market intelligence, strengthen institutional connectivity, identify investment opportunities, and support strategic partnerships across the continent.

Commenting on the outcomes of the mission, Eng. Moataz Raslan, Chairman of ECIC, stated:

H.E. Ambassador Dr. Youssef Kordofani welcomed the results of the meetings, highlighting the importance of strengthening collaboration among African institutions to promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth and advance the continent’s integration agenda.

Both parties agreed to continue technical and institutional consultations in the coming months. They also welcomed a forthcoming visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt at the end of June and participation in the official AIMEC launch events scheduled for July 2026.

These meetings reflect a shared commitment to advancing African economic integration, facilitating trade and investment partnerships, and developing practical mechanisms that support sustainable economic growth throughout the continent.
