THE EIGHTH MISSION OF THE EGYPTIAN BUSINESS COUNCIL FOR INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION TO POLAND AND SWEDEN

May 22-May 26, 2023

The Egyptian Business Council for International Cooperation held its eight trade mission which took place from May 22^nd to May 26^th to Poland and Sweden. The main aim of the mission is to extend the trade and investment linkage and enhance the bilateral cooperation between Egypt, Poland and Sweden. The visit assisted in bridging the partnership between the Egypt and the two countries.

On May 22^nd, the delegates started the day in Poland meeting with the Polish Egyptian Parliamentary group, then meeting with the Chairman of Foreign Affairs Committee and the Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development. They also had a tour at Sejm (Polish Parliament). The delegates ended their first day in Warsaw, Poland meeting with ‘The National Support Centre for Agriculture (KOWR). In addition to other meeting with the green energy committee (KIG) headed by Mr. Motaz Raslan.

On May 23^rd, The Egyptian Business Council for International Cooperation held a business conference in Warsaw under the name of “Egyptian Polish Business Forum” in cooperation with Polish Chamber of Commerce (KIG), Embassy of Egypt to Poland and Egyptian Commercial Service office in Warsaw with the participation of Polish Business, Investment Community and Economic Zones moderated by Polish Chamber of Commerce.

The Seminar’s aim is to enhance and strengthen the bilateral cooperation between Egypt and Poland and to promote the trade between the two countries.

Egyptian Polish Business seminar started by the introduction remarks of H.E. Hatem Tageldin; Ambassador of Egypt to Poland and high-profile representatives from Poland. The event was attended by Mr. Motaz Raslan; Chairman of the Egyptian Council of International Cooperation, Dr. Osama El Saeed; Chairman of the Egyptian Polish Business Council, Dr. Ibrahim Abdelkhalik; Vice Chairman, Suez Canal Economic Zone, Mr. Mohamed Youssef; Regional Manager – Europe & USA Promotion Sector, General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), Mr. Witold Uhma; Deputy head of audit – The Katowice Special Economic Zone, Mr. Jack Grad; Polish Agency of Trade and Investment, Foreign office in Cairo, Mr. Essam El Naggar, Commercial Councellor, Egyptian Embassy to Poland and a representative from the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology of Poland along with the Egyptian Delegation.

The event also included presentations by Dr. Ibrahim Abdelkhalik; Vice Chairman, Suez Canal Economic Zone, Mr. Mohamed Youssef; Regional Manager – Europe & USA Promotion Sector, General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) ), Mr. Witold Uhma; Deputy head of audit – The Katowice Special Economic Zone, and the Representative from the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology of Poland explaining the Polish Egyptian trade & investment opportunities. Then the seminar ended with session of B2B and B2G meetings.

On May 24th, the visit at Warsaw ended by Small and Medium Enterprises and the industrial development organization meetings attended by delegation representatives before travelling to Sweden.

On May 25th the delegation started their mission in Sweden by the delegation’s visit to Stockholm, the capital of the State of Sweden, where the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Sweden and Latvia, Ambassador Ahmed Adel Sobhi, welcomed the members of the mission and held a seminar on the current investment opportunities in Egypt, where case study presented by Volvo company explaining their success story in investing in Egypt, at the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Stockholm followed by a field visit to the Sweden Innovation Center EPICENTER .

On May 26th the mission’s delegation visited the Swedish Parliament and had a round table with various Swedish government agencies at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Among the meetings were the bilateral meeting with the Director General of Trade Policy and the meeting of the Swedish Council for Agriculture in addition to the meeting of Swedish customs and the meeting of the National Council of Trade and the Swedish Business Sector Authority (Business Sweden).

At the end of the mission Mr. Moataz Raslan expressed his aspiration for more opportunities for joint economic and trade cooperation between the two countries in the fields of agriculture, investment, innovation, information technology, health and entrepreneurship, in coordination with the embassies of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Poland and Sweden and the commercial representation office in Warsaw.
