Trade Mission 07 Objectives
The 2007 mission had a wide range of objectives, including political and social ones, besides deepening trade and investment related objectives in the context of Egypt-Canada relationships. The mission included more than 70 representatives of different ministries, public institutions, private sector, and media. The mission was headed this year by H.E. Dr. Tarek Kamel, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Dr. Ziad Bahaa El Din, Chairman of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), and Eng. Motaz Raslan, Head of the Canadian- Egyptian Business Council (CEBC). There were also several high ranking government officials representing ministries of Foreign Affairs, Tourism, Interior, Petroleum, and Finance. Moreover, the mission included a large number of businessmen in different fields covering agriculture, industry, and services, as well as a prominent group of journalists and press representatives.
Trade Mission 07 Conclusions
The mission has concluded several achievements among the most important of which is reviving trade and investment relations between Egypt and Canada, updating the new Canadian government and business community on the recent economic and political changes in Egypt, exploring potential areas of cooperation, and setting the initial steps for strengthened cooperation to be followed-up by the business community and the government on both sides.
